Meet the Coaches

Karin & Scott were both D1 track athletes and are certified, experienced track & field coaches. 

Karin Gould Karin has been coaching for 20+ years. Karin began her high school track & cross country coaching at Christ the King High School in 2021. In Fall 2021 she had a successful first season as head Cross Country coach, leading the CTK women’s XC team to their first ever NCHSAA state meet appearance and leading the boys to a school best 3rd place NCHSAA state meet finish and has continued that success with state meet appearances by both her girls and boys teams every year she has coached, coaching the 2023 1A NCHSAA boy and girl individual state champions as well as the 20241A NCHSAA girls team runner-up. She has coached middle school cross country (Bailey Middle), Girls on the Run, and was the run coach for the triathlon program at the LKN YMCA. She holds a run coach certification from the Road Runners Club of America. She is also a Registered Dietitian with a Masters of Science from West Virginia University. In high school, Karin was top 10 in the National Canadian Junior XC meet and has a bronze medal from the Canadian Junior 5000m Championships. She ran at WVU on a full track/XC scholarship, competing in cross country and track (distances up to 10,000m). Karin attended the NCAA D-I Cross Country championships her Freshman and Senior years. Karin and her WVU teammates still hold a Canadian 4x1500m national record set at the 2001 Penn Relays. After university, she had a running contract with Saucony for several years and represented Canada at the 2003 Ekiden Relays in Seoul, Korea. Recently, Karin has become active in triathlon and has won several local sprint and Olympic distance triathlons. She has qualified for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships 3 times and has completed one full Ironman (140.6). Karin is still an active runner and qualified for the 2020 Boston and New York marathons.

Scott Gould Scott is a USATF certified track & field coach with a specialization in hurdles. He has been coaching high school track & field since 2018. He is currently in his first year as head track & field coach at Community School of Davidson. Previously, he was the head coach at Christ the King High School in Huntersville, since the program inception for outdoor track in 2018 and for indoor track in 2022, for a total of 10 seasons. In that time, the program grew from less than 20 athletes in the inaugural season to over 60 by 2024. Both the boys and girls teams continuously improved, resulting in a girls conference championship in 2024 and qualifying 18 athletes for the state track meet, where the girls finished 7th and the boys finished 8th. He has also guided multiple athletes to Adidas and Nike national track meets. Scott was a Division 1 collegiate sprint hurdler at West Virginia University and holds the distinction of being the third fastest 110m hurdler in WVU history with a time of 14.11 seconds. Scott was a walk-on and earned a scholarship by his senior season. He was also a standout hurdler in high school, placing second in both the 110m hurdles (14.9) and 300m hurdles (40.6) at the West Virginia 2A state championship his senior season and also competed at the state meet in the long jump and shuttle hurdle relay.
